Shaw River Buffalo Cheese was Australia’s pioneering producer of water buffalo milk products, establishing the nation’s first milking water buffalo herd. Renowned for its premium cheeses and yoghurts, the company built a legacy of quality and craftsmanship.
After closing in 2021, the factory remained dormant until 2025, when Melbourne entrepreneurs Ignatious and Murali revitalised the site and returned production to life. Sourcing rich, high-quality buffalo milk from South Australia, Shaw River once again produces exceptional buffalo milk cheese.
Today, D&R Island Goods is proud to be the exclusive distributor of Shaw River Buffalo Curd — crafted in the authentic Sri Lankan tradition. The curd is made using pure buffalo milk and naturally cultured to achieve its signature flavour and creamy texture. It is set and sold in traditional clay pots as well as convenient modern buckets, bringing a true taste of Sri Lanka to Australia.
SOZO
Founded in 2016 by Dushyantha and Gianee De Silva, SOZO Beverages was born from a desire to create drinks made with real, natural ingredients rather than artificial flavours. Inspired by Sri Lanka’s vibrant produce, SOZO crafts premium iced teas, juices, and sparkling infusions using locally sourced fruits, teas, and spices.
Their products contain up to 40% less sugar, with no preservatives, made possible through an innovative bottling process that ensures long shelf life and freshness. Committed to sustainability, SOZO uses biodegradable packaging and supports Sri Lankan farming communities through ethical sourcing.
